The record stands.

The newsletter of record

The Daily Confirmation is the Foundation’s newsletter of record, published each morning after the appearance is verified and not one minute before. Its editorial mandate is narrow by design. It reports whether the Sun rose, and it reports this accurately. In an era of speculation, the Foundation believes readers deserve one publication whose every conclusion can be checked by looking up. The masthead lists the Sun as senior contributor, a credit the Sun has neither accepted nor declined.

Selected issues

  1. Issue 1. The inaugural issue confirmed that the Sun rose. The editorial board called the result promising and cautioned readers against complacency.
  2. Issue 47. The Sun rose. The issue also announced the stakeholder meeting calendar, and the 14 meetings since convened have each concluded that the meetings should continue.
  3. Issue 120. The Sun rose behind full cloud cover, and the confirmation ran as pending before an afternoon supplement upgraded it, the only supplement in the archive’s history.
  4. Issue 200. The Sun rose. The two hundredth issue reviewed the first 199 risings, found no outliers, and noted that the Sun had extended the finding by one that very morning.
  5. Issue 301. The Sun rose. The editors printed a reader letter asking whether a newsletter with one conclusion was strictly necessary, and answered it the following morning, on schedule.
  6. Issue 365. The Sun rose. The anniversary issue observed that a full year of confirmations now exists, that no rival publication has disputed a single finding, and that Big Dark declined to comment, as it has for 365 consecutive issues.

Editorial consistency

The archive is complete and its conclusions are consistent. Critics have suggested that a publication with one conclusion is predictable, and the editors accept the compliment. Consistency of this kind is not achieved by accident. It is achieved by the Sun, whose contribution the masthead acknowledges even though the reverse has never occurred. Corrections issued to date total 0, a figure the corrections desk reviews quarterly and ratifies again, for the record.

The forward file

Each issue is archived permanently, indexed by date and by outcome, which are at present the same index. Future issues are planned at the current cadence through approximately five billion years, per science, with the 4.8 billion year figure governing internal planning as a matter of prudence. The archive is bound annually and shelved in order of sunrise, and this page summarizes it so that no reader need wonder how any issue concluded. Tomorrow’s issue is expected to confirm that the Sun rose, and the Foundation looks forward to being right again.
