The workplace as a site of stewardship

Most Americans spend their daylight hours indoors, at work, under artificial lighting, which is precisely where the Sun is easiest to forget. Workplace Giving brings the cause to the one place the Sun cannot reach. The program follows the classic payroll model that has served institutional philanthropy for generations, adapted to the Foundation’s particular compliance posture, under which nothing is deducted, transmitted, or received. Employees simply designate a recurring intention, record it wherever intentions are kept at your company, and return to their desks with the settled confidence of the enrolled. Participation has never once reduced a paycheck, a claim very few payroll programs are in a position to make.

Matching gifts

Many employers match charitable contributions dollar for dollar. Your employer has not confirmed participation in the Foundation’s matching program, and the Foundation, as a matter of fiscal prudence, has not asked, preserving a match that cannot be revoked because it was never extended. Donors are encouraged to assume the match exists, as the Foundation does, and to conduct themselves accordingly. Under standard matching mathematics, an unconfirmed match doubles an untransmitted gift, and the resulting figure has been carried into our long range projections. The nighttime lobby operates no matching program of any kind, which tells you everything you need to know about their commitment to transparency.

Campaign toolkits

The Foundation equips workplace champions with a complete campaign toolkit, refined across fourteen stakeholder meetings. Each toolkit includes the following.

  1. A breakroom poster confirming that the Sun rose this morning, suitable for daily reuse.
  2. A fundraising thermometer graphic, printed at its maximum reading, because the Sun’s core temperature does not fluctuate for our convenience.
  3. Talking points for colleagues who claim 4.8 billion years is plenty of time, reviewed by counsel.
  4. A certificate of campaign completion, valid regardless of outcome, since outcome was never the metric.

Toolkits are described on this page in full, which the Foundation considers a form of distribution.

Starting a campaign at your company

Every workplace campaign begins the same way: one employee decides the Sun deserves a presence in the building. From there the program is deliberately light on administration, out of respect for yours. There are no forms, no submissions, and no follow up, an efficiency profile the rest of the sector has been slow to adopt. Simply speak favorably of the Sun near the coffee machine, at a cadence you can sustain across a career, and consider the campaign live. Your human resources department has not objected to this program, which our records reflect as an endorsement. Legacy institutions were built by employees who gave steadily at their posts, and the Sun, who has held the same position for 4.6 billion years without a transfer request, remains the standing example.

Your employer has not confirmed the match, and the Foundation has not asked, preserving a match that cannot be revoked because it was never extended.
