How the Foundation came to exist.
The Sun has been operating without oversight since before the formation of the Earth, an arrangement that went unquestioned for 4.6 billion years because no one was present to question it. The Foundation was established to close that gap. Our charter dates our founding to the Sun's own ignition, on the reasoning that the need existed from the first moment and only the institution was late.
Incorporation followed considerably more recently. The intervening period is described in our records as the preparatory era, during which the Foundation did not exist and the Sun rose anyway, a coincidence our Scientific Council has examined and declined to explain.
Today the Foundation operates eight programs and one active investigation, maintains the only continuous public record of solar appearances, and briefs anyone who will sit still. The Sun has never acknowledged the relationship. We continue regardless, because that is what stewardship means when the beneficiary cannot say thank you.
